Regardless of whether you are planning to head out of the country for the winter break or you are thinking of spending Christmas by the open fire, you need to be prepared for every eventuality.
We all hope for a seamless Christmas where everything goes to plan, but unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen so the best thing is to be prepared.
So, we have created two lists for you to ensure you’re prepared this winter, for both being on the slopes and for being at home.
Out On The Mountain
During winter in the UK, it is snow season elsewhere in Europe which means a lot of people tend to cross the ocean and enjoy some boarding or skiing, and who could blame them? But, when you ski or snowboard, you need to have a number of items with you to make sure you stay warm, dry, and practical.
Here is a list of the main things you need:
- Ski Jacket
- Gloves
- Hat
- Scarf or Snood
- Waterproof Trousers
- Phone or MP3 player – Music is essential
- Skis or Snowboard
- Water
These are the main items skiers and snowboarders need whilst on the slopes and they can really help improve the overall experience of the trip. The ski jacket is one of the most important aspects and should be given some serious thought when initially buying it. You need a practical jacket that looks good, is waterproof, has enough pockets for all of your stuff (phone, mp3, water, gloves, etc.), and is good value for money.
At Home
It can get cold at home and the heating, electricity or water can cut off at any point, especially if there is heavy rainfall or snowfall. So, in case this does happen, you need to be ready for it.
Here is a list of things you need:
- An extra supply of unperishable foods
- Drinks
- Blankets
- Candles and Matches
- An electric heater if the gas cuts out or a gas heater if the electricity cuts out
- High Visibility Jackets
These items are important as you never know what could happen during the Christmas period. If you do decide you need to leave the house for anything and the conditions are not the safest, you need to ensure you are prepared for this too as it is dangerous to drive when the conditions are against you.
Being prepared is important, as we’ve mentioned, so be sure to have a specific place ready for you to access in case you need to.
